Estimating Mean Quality Adjusted Lifetime with Censored Data

چکیده
In the clinical trials of chronic diseases such as cancer or AIDS, it has been increasingly recognized that it is not enough just to consider simple time to event end points. For example, a new experimental drug may prolong overall survival time of patients, but in the meantime, it can be toxic for a longer period of time. Therefore, the trade-off between the quality and quantity of life of patients needs to be considered. The concept of quality adjusted survival analysis arises from situations like this. Quality adjusted survival analysis is a method that puts patients’ health status on a utility scale, with coefficients ranging from 0 to 1, where 1 represents a state of perfect health, and 0 a state equivalent to death. Quality adjusted lifetime (QAL) is simply the linear combination of time spent at each health state weighted by

Regression analysis of mean quality-adjusted lifetime with censored data.
In clinical trials of chronic diseases such as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, cancer, or cardiovascular diseases, the concept of quality-adjusted lifetime (QAL) has received more and more attention. In this paper, we consider the problem of how the covariates affect the mean QAL when the data are subject to right censoring. We allow a very general form for the mean model as a function of c...
متن کاملUsing inverse-weighting in cost-effectiveness analysis with censored data.
Due to induced dependent censoring, estimating mean costs and quality-adjusted survival in a cost-effectiveness analysis using standard life-table methods leads to biased results. In this paper we propose methods for estimating the difference in mean costs and the difference in effectiveness, together with their respective variances and covariance in the presence of dependent censoring. We cons...
متن کاملBayesian Two-Sample Prediction with Progressively Type-II Censored Data for Some Lifetime Models
Prediction on the basis of censored data is very important topic in many fields including medical and engineering sciences. In this paper, based on progressive Type-II right censoring scheme, we will discuss Bayesian two-sample prediction. A general form for lifetime model including some well known and useful models such asWeibull and Pareto is considered for obtaining prediction bounds ...
متن کاملA multiple imputation approach to linear regression with clustered censored data.
We extend Wei and Tanner's (1991) multiple imputation approach in semi-parametric linear regression for univariate censored data to clustered censored data. The main idea is to iterate the following two steps: 1) using the data augmentation to impute for censored failure times; 2) fitting a linear model with imputed complete data, which takes into consideration of clustering among failure times...
متن کاملMonitoring the censored lognormal reliability data in a three-stage process using AFT model
Improving the product reliability is the main concern in both manufacturing and service processes which is obtained by monitoring the reliability-related quality characteristics. Nowadays, products or services are the result of processes with dependent stages referred to as multistage processes. In these processes, the quality characteristic in each stage is affected by the quality characterist...
